Almeria – The Mirror Of The Ocean

Almeria is located on the eastern edge of Andalucia and east of Malaga. It lies directly on a bay on the Mediterranean Sea and is a paradise for everyone who seeks relaxation. In Almeria begins the famous Costa del Sol, which extends westward to Gibraltar. Some villages of this idyllic place like Torremolino, Fuengirola, Estepona and Marbella are still relatively untouched. Thus, they make fabulous get-away destinations for undisturbed fun in the sun.

The fortress Alcazaba is the official landmark of Almeria, and it is, probably, the best-preserved palace in Spain. Next is the cathedral, which is a converted Catholic mosque. In the church of Santo Domingo, you can view the magnificent setting of the patron saint of Almeria, La Virgen del Mar. The virgin of the sea is, furthermore, the protector of all fishermen. You should also take a stroll along the harbor promenade, which is lined with gorgeous pine trees. In the shade of the palms, you can marvel at exotic plants, or enjoy various water-games, such as a fountain with the image of artistically designed dolphins.

A stay in Granada should be on your holiday list, as well. Here, you can indulge in an evening walk through the city and visit the popular Alhambra shortly after breakfast. Furthermore, the pristine beach of San Jose is worthwhile your journey, where you can unwind, swim or go sailing. If you would like to take pictures against a backdrop of a private Western movie, you should take a trip to Tabernas. Numerous Western films are created there, including a new version of Bonanza.

Maspalomas – The Unique Land Of Dunes

Nowhere in the Canary Island is as much dune area as in Maspalomas. The light-yellow sand, with its fascinating shapes that are created by the wind, paints an impressive picture. In front of this spectacle lies a nearly 3,6 miles long sandy ocean shore, which extends from the mouth of Brando de Maspalomas to Punt de Maspalomas. Here, it seamlessly merges into the Playa del Ingles. The vast region offers one of the most beautiful bathing spots of the Canary Islands.

The Palmitos National Park lies in front of the western end of Maspalomas. In the reserve grow about 50 different species of palms, as well as numerous cacti and agaves. Besides from some Gibbons, which inhabit the oasis, there are 230 types of birds. In the garden area live ducks, swans, peacocks and flamingos. You are, of course, welcome to walk around freely and make friends. Maspalomas is, indeed, one of the most charming destinations in Spain, where you will be enchanted by the intact radiance of nature.
